What is a spam email ?

Spam emails, also known as junk email or unsolicited commercial email, are unwanted or unsolicited messages that are sent to a large number of recipients in an attempt to promote a product, service, or idea. These messages are typically sent out in mass quantities, and they may use misleading or deceptive tactics to try and entice people to click on links or make purchases.

Spam emails can come in many forms, including phishing attacks, which are designed to trick people into revealing sensitive information such as login credentials or financial details. Phishing emails often look legitimate, and they may use logos or branding from well-known companies to try and appear trustworthy. However, they often contain links that lead to fake websites or download malicious software when clicked on.

Spam emails may also contain malware or other harmful software that can infect your computer or mobile device if you click on a malicious link. These emails can be used to spread malware or viruses, steal sensitive information, or scam people out of money.

In addition to being a nuisance, spam emails can be a serious problem for both individuals and businesses. They can clog up email inboxes, making it difficult to find and manage legitimate emails, and they can also pose a security threat. To protect yourself from spam emails, it's important to be cautious when opening emails from unfamiliar senders, to avoid clicking on links or downloading attachments from unknown sources, and to use a reputable spam filter. You should also be aware of common spamming tactics, such as using urgent language or offering fake discounts or prizes, and be on the lookout for these signs when evaluating emails.
